University Grants Commission
UGC is a statutory body of the Government of India established in November 1956 through an Act of Parliament for the coordination, determination and maintenance of standards of university education in India.
It is the only grant-giving agency in the country with two responsibilities;
First, Providing funds and
Second, Coordination, determination and maintenance of standards in institutions of higher education.
